I admit Ros and Guil wasn't everyone's cup of tea. But there's a difference between getting it and not liking what you got and not getting it and dismissing it anyway. One is annoying but forgivable, the other just sends me into paroxisms.

I didn't make it into St. John's because my high school GPA was abysmal in everything except English and Literature. Since St. John's education is more well-rounded than most, they didn't think my past grades in, say, foriegn language, maths, or natural sciences, were such that I would be able to succeed in their program. They were, of course, wrong, since during the last two years (the period during which I became aware of St. John's and made serious plans to go there) I brought my grades in everything up astronomically. This year, I carried my heaviest courseload ever - three A.P.'s and one Advanced course - with a 3.8 GPA. Which says something to me, namely, I would have given up several non-critical organs in order to attend.

However, I got in other places, with scholarships, even, and with a double major in English/Classics from Roger Williams University, I figure I'll be getting the closest thing to a St. John's education outside of St. John's.

Good luck in your next year! I've got other friends who are going there in the fall, it's great to know more Johnnies of the future. (Glad to know you're not bragging, because then I couldn't friend you. It'd be too much to have people bragging about getting the one thing I really wanted.)
